On Friday, October 4th, the Valley lost a legend when Nancy Ruth Silver passed away peacefully. This is a monumental loss for her family, her community, and everyone she touched. She had a zest for life and a unique ability to make any gathering bigger and better with her presence or planning. She had great taste and an even greater certainty in her taste’s greatness. In 1978, Nancy and her mother Judy brought that great taste to Marshall Way when they opened The Paper Place. Judy and Nancy were later joined by Nancy’s sister Betsy, making it a family affair. The Paper Place became a staple of Scottsdale as their vision defined entertaining in the Valley.

Oh Nancy...I loved you. You were the BEST, and this makes me so sad. You crossed the rainbow bridge knowing you were loved.

I knew Nancy from my H.E.R.O. class (Home Economics Related Occupations) and she was always ready with the funny remark about something. She made me laugh and that is a wonderful quality. Years later I assisted her with the 10-year reunion at her little bungalow off of (I believe - it was years ago) 44th St., right on the canal. It was eclectic, like her. Nancy, you will be truly missed, my friend. <3
